College Night

September 8, 2010

The 27th Annual Fresno Area College Night will be held on September 8, 2010. This event gives students and their parents an opportunity to speak to representatives from more than 100 colleges, as well as to attend sessions on college admissions and financial aid, among others. Constitution Day

Pursuant to legislation passed by Congress, educational institutions receiving Federal funding are required to hold an educational program pertaining to the United States Constitution on September 17 of each year.

Educator of the Year Awards Ceremony

Mock Trial

The Mock Trial is a simulation of a criminal court case with high school students playing the various roles. Students participate as counsel, witnesses and court clerks presenting their cases in courtrooms before Municipal and Superior Court Judges at the County Courthouse.

Fresno County Academic Decathlon

MathCounts Chapter Competition

CSU Fresno, Satellite Student Union

MATHCOUNTS is a national enrichment, coaching and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement in every U.S. state and territory. Students enrolled in the 6th, 7th or 8th grade are eligible to participate in MathCounts competitions. Students have an opportunity to show their mathematical problem solving skills and to represent their schools in academic competition. The winning team will represent this Charter at the State competition in March. The grand finale is the Lockheed Martin MathCounts National Competition.

2010 Central Section HS Boys and Girls Basketball Finals

The Fresno County Office of Education and The CIF Office proudly present the 2010 Central Section HS Boys and Girls Basketball Finals Friday, March 5th and Saturday March 6th at Selland Arena.

Watch 20 teams in 10 games all vying to become Valley Champions!

The 2010 Central Section Finals sponsored by The Fresno Sports Council-CBS Channel 47-The Fresno Bee, and World Sports Café.

Young Authors' Faire

As part of the Language Arts Festival, the Authors' Faire showcases and celebrates original writings of Fresno County students. Ten K-6 students from each participating school may submit books they have written and illustrated. Middle School/Jr. High students are invited to submit a display of writing projects in which they have participated.

Farm and Nutrition Day

March 19, 2010

This special event allows 3rd grade students to participate in activities showcasing the agricultural industry and the benefits of choosing nutritious foods, much of which is provided on a daily basis by the bounty of diversified “food pyramid” crops grown throughout Fresno County. Pentathlon Adventure

This event is designed to focus attention on the physical well being of school children and to create a day-long series of activities that promote physical fitness. The competition is open to teams of 5th through 8th graders from Fresno County schools.

Fresno County Spell Off

What's in a word? Plenty when it's the rigors of a spelling bee and the participants are Fresno County elementary and junior high school students. The two top winners in both the elementary and junior high school divisions go on to represent Fresno County in the California State Spelling Championship that's held in May.
